1st Pre-Primary School of Gazi

The 1^st Pre-Primary School of Heraklion is a public pre- primary school where children aged 4 to 6 year, attend. It is located in the suburb called Gazi in the city of Heraklion, a district with an amazing view.

Pre-primary school in Greece is the first well organized learning environment where children attend systematically. For this reason, it can substantially contribute to their education. It gives them the opportunity to develop skills defined by the broader objectives of Primary Education. It can motivate them, organize their motor and cognitive abilities and prevent possible learning difficulties.

Teachers of this type of school are called to organize appropriate learning environment and choose ways of working cooperation and evaluation, things that will support the total development of each child.

Our school aims in conducting Environmental Education programmes as well as Health and Artistic programmes and cooperated in various projects. We have worked on thematical projects with the Centre of Environmental Education in Heraklion.

The participation of our school in the programme helps children fight xenophobia and racism while children coming from foreign countries can learn to project their countries to other students making it easier for them to stop feeling as the outsiders. The program will help the harmonious integration of children with cultural and linguistic diversities in the educational system, to ensure acceptance of these children from the educational community and the wider society and to support families with cultural differences.
